Business is tougher when you try to go it alone!

By John Richardson

Over 30 local business owners attended the August SCORE Workshop that focused on how to seek, identify, select and use advisers at no or low cost!!

There are many people who are ready and willing to offer business advice, which may prove to be critical to the success of a small business or start-up. The challenge is to make sure that the adviser is qualified and the advice is affordable, relevant, useful, valuable and benefi cial. This workshop discussed how you meet those challenges.

GEORGE RUSZNAK, SCORE counselor and past chapter Chariman founded and ran several companies in the computer industry as well as several consulting fi rms. He has served as mentor and adviser to high school and university students, start-ups, small business owners and senior executives of large companies such as Bank of America, Chevron, Intel, Apple, British Airways, and Nestle.

I recently started an ISO Quality Management consulting business. My SCORE advisers helped to put me on track in focusing on the critical marketing tasks that needed to be done to bring in new business.
